Head Coach: Doug WelchCoach Welch grew up in Newburgh, IN where he was a four year varsity wrestler and a three year varsity baseball player. As a wrestler, he posted a record of 189-11 and owns the Castle High School record for consecutive wins (54) and career wins (189). He also took eighth at the 2011 NHSCA Senior Championships at 145 pounds, advancing to the consolation quarterfinals before injury defaulting to All-American honors. He was the IHSAA State champion at 152lbs. in 2011, IHSAA State Runner-up in 2010, and 5th at the IHSAA State finals as a sophomore for Castle High School.
After high school, Coach Welch continued his career at Purdue University where he was a four year varsity letter-winner. He was an NCAA Qualifier in 2015 and ranked as high as 9th in the country, placed seventh at the 2014 Midlands Championships, as well as placed sixth at the 2015 Big Ten Championships all at 157lbs.
While competing for the Boilermakers, Coach Welch won the team's Boiler Up Tough Award, was an academic all-Big Ten selection, and was Purdue's male recipient of the Big Ten Outstanding Sportsmanship Award.
After his time at Purdue, Coach Welch began his coaching career as the head assistant coach at Carmel High School during the 2016-2017 and 2017-2018 seasons. During that time he was also coaching year round as a club coach for CUSAWC. Coach Welch has coached at many national events the past three years, which include Indiana’s Fargo National Team (2016-2018), Schoolboy Duals (2016), and Cadet Duals (2017).
